Japanese Admiralty Signaling Searchlight

SKU: TR513

It has been literally years since we’ve had one of these glorious masterpieces, the pride of Tojo, available for sale! Amazing as it seems, the tooling for these incredible signal lamps survived the firestorm of Tokyo, and after the war the Shonan Kosakusho Co. Ltd. went on to build these units for the world’s navies until the late 1970’s. These were all painted the usual navy grey, but we had  this one stripped and polished to its absolute splendor. Everything works smoothly. The signal shutter mechanism is a real pleasure. You can communicate with your friends across the bay with this! This is a 12” daylight signaling lamp, using a 1000 watt bulb, with moveable mirror reflector to obtain parallel diverged or crossed beams. This monster 18”Ø unit has the original makers plates and instruction plates in solid brass on the side. The lamp weighs about 84 lbs of nut-busting brass and glass. measures overall 20” x 19”, mounted on an 18” solid brass yoke, with a 9 “Ø baseplate
