Appalachian Axe Small | 1055 Carbon Steel With Hickory Handle

The Boker Plus Appalachian Axe Small is a compact camp axe built for real work in a pack-friendly size. With a forged 1055 carbon steel head, American hickory handle, and balanced one-handed format, it is made for kindling, camp chores, bushcraft, and the sort of outdoor work that benefits from a proper edge instead of a folding saw doing its best.

The axe head is forged in a classic Rhenish-style pattern, a practical European shape known for its broad cutting edge and versatile performance. The 4.13" edge handles light chopping and splitting, while the pronounced heel can be used as a turning nose for repositioning small logs and rounds with better control.

Despite its shorter handle, this compact version keeps a substantial head weight for efficient cutting. The hickory wood handle is chosen for toughness, elasticity, and shock resistance, then double-wedged with a wooden wedge and steel sleeve for a secure, durable fit.

What it’s for:

  • Splitting kindling, tending campfires, trail work, and general camp chores
  • One-handed chopping where a full-size axe is unnecessary or too bulky
  • Pack carry, cabin kits, truck kits, bushcraft use, and outdoor tool collections
