RÖMER IV, glass, Holland - Forest Glass / Waldglas
Forest glass (German Waldglas) was typical of the late Middle Ages in Central and Northwest Europe and was produced until the 18th century, particularly in regions with abundant sand rich in quartz and wood used to produce potash. This type of glass was used for making vessels and later also stained glass.
This RÖMER IV glass is a handmade replica of a historical glass according to a find in the Netherlands from the 17th century.

According to the Corning Museum of Glass dictionary, a Römer or Roemer is a drinking vessel for wine or beer. It has an ovoid mouth, a cylindrical body, and a conical foot. The body is usually decorated with prunts.
The raised knobs or "beehive" texture on the stem (prunts) were designed for a secure, non-slip grip when hands were greasy from meals.
